Despite over 400,000 people in the UK living with Type 1, I am amazed at the lack of public awareness on this particular subject and today is the perfect time to reach out, entertain and enlighten. Jade’s story is an opportunity to achieve a level of understanding of not only the topic of Type 1 Diabetes, but what it means to someone who lives with it. The empowering resolution comes from a woman that must accept who she truly is, by not allowing diabetes to control her but for her to control it, which is truthful and honest of many topics we deal with in our society. Produced and Written by Jade Byrne who has lived with Type 1 Diabetes herself for 34 years."
Jade Byrne is the creative mind behind the idea to create this Pricks Short Film. She is a first time filmmaker and has lived with this hidden disability for 34 years. The film is adapted from Jade's critically acclaimed theatre show of the same name, Pricks, which toured the UK from 2018-2022. Jade co wrote, produced and performed in the film.
